A total of 473,486 nights stayed were recorded, a figure similar to that of January 2007. Of the nights spent by tourists in January 2008, 60 % were spent by foreigners. Most foreign tourists (68 %) came from Croatia (28 %), Italy (22 %), Austria (8 %), the Russian Federation (5 %) and Serbia (5 %). The number of nights spent by foreign tourists has gone down by 4 % while the number of night spent by Slovenian tourists increased by 7 %.

Slovenia is also becoming an increasingly frequent destination for tourists. In 2007, the number of tourists recorded as staying in Slovenian tourist accommodation was 2,672,939. This is 8 % more than in 2006 and this means that 8,244,349 nights were spent, 7 % more than in 2006. In comparison with the previous year, the number of nights spent increased by 8 % while the number of nights spent by Slovenian tourists went up by 5 %.

Of the nights spent by tourists in 2007, 59 % of them were by foreigners and in 2006 this figure was 58 %. In 2007, most guests (70 % of all foreign nights) came from Italy (19 %), Austria (14 %), Germany (13 %), the UK (6 %), Croatia (6 %), the Netherlands (4 %), Hungary (3 %), the Russian Federation (3 %) and France (2 %).
