Slovenian natural spas are very pleased with the visitor numbers and overnight stays generated in the first seven months of 2008, said Iztok Altbauer, Secretary of the Slovenian Spas Community.

After Slovenia’s EU Council Presidency, the Slovenian Tourist Board conducted two surveys to determine the effect of the presidency on the recognition of Slovenia as a tourist destination. The results of both surveys confirmed the positive effect of the presidency on recognition of Slovenia among survey respondents.

Tourist accommodation facilities registered 1,536,927 tourist arrivals and 4,746,750 overnight stays from the beginning of the year to the end of July, which marks a 3% increase over the same period last year.
